Self-Care and Wellness for School Administrators: A Workshop with Dr. Lata K. McGinn
School administrators have always faced myriad stressors as they manage and balance the needs of the administration, teachers, students, and their families. The COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted all of our lives in unprecedented ways, has heightened the stress and burnout that administrators face today. Although stress can be normal and everyone experiences stress from time to time, chronic stress and burnout can be harmful to our health and impede our ability to function. This workshop will help administrators understand stress, recognize the sources and signs of stress and burnout, and will offer practical self-care strategies to help overcome the effects of multiple, ongoing stressors. The workshop will review the ADAPT toolbox to help administrators manage stress and achieve wellness. The ADAPT toolbox is derived from cognitive and behavioral stress management strategies and teaches a variety of thinking, physical, and behavioral strategies that have shown to be effective in alleviating chronic stress. Administrators will learn how Cognitive Behavioral Consultants is partnering with districts to address the impact of stress. Time will be allotted for discussion and questions from participants.

Lata K. McGinn, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and co-founder of Cognitive Behavioral Consultants. She is also Professor of Psychology at Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

This workshop is FREE for CAS member schools. The registration fee for non-member schools is $29 per person. If you aren’t sure if your school is a CAS member, please email Cheryl Novicelli at cnovicelli@casciac.org.
